Acey Deucey Backgammon - The Fresh Version
Backgammon has come along way for being the oldest game board in the world. Being such a classic, backgammon inspired the creation of several other famous board games. And more, it has stirred ITSELF to revolutionize into a fresher version - the "One-Two" or Acey Deucey Backgammon (from the word 'ace,' meaning one; and the word 'deuce,' or two.) To understand more, why the new backgammon game is called One-Two (also called the 'Doubling Cube'), let's take a look at how the variation comes while playing it.
Acey Deucey Backgammon - THE RULES: The major distinguisher of how Acey Deucey is played is the roll of One and Two (the one die rolling One, and the other one rolling Two). That is, after the player makes the distinguished roll, he makes the One and Two checker move, and then makea an additional four moves for a number of points of their choice. And if so happens that the player rolls a One-Two again in his added turns, then he gets another extra four turns. So, unlike the original backgammon, the player is allowed to roll extra turns, hence, making the game faster and more exciting. This is the reason why Acey Deucey has become one of the most popular forms of backgammon all over the world.
(*Of all the variants of backgammon, Acey Deucey Backgammon is in fact just a more admired variation of the Dutch-variant Backgammon. It has also been said that the alteration of the game started in the Middle East, and now becomes the favorite past-time of the U.S. Navy.*).
Apart from the One-Two privilege roll, there other exciting deviations such as the difference in starting the game. In Acey Deucey, each of the players' 15 checkers are OFF the board during the beginning. And though the game is still the same as the original in rolling for whoever will make the first turn, the high-roller, aside from being first, also gets to roll BOTH of his dice during his first turn. From there, the play commences, (still) with the aim of being the first to bring all his checkers into the home section and then bear all the checkers off the twenty-four alternately colored triangle-points board. However, throughout the game, the player can move ANY checker he wants WHENEVER he wants. In Acey Deucey Backgammon, the player can move a checker already on the board, even if he still has an un-played or what's called a 'waiting' checker.
There are other distinguishing rules to playing Acey Deucey Backgammon; but more or less, these are what made the game most loved nowadays. In fact so well-loved that other versions of the Acey Deucey has also emerged. For example, there is the European Acey Deucey Backgammon, and the Greek sub-version (wherein the player can force their opponent to hit one of his blots), and the Mexican variety (wherein there is a limit of five checkers that can be put together on one point). Who knows how, and which of the changed versions of Acey Deucey - could yet change the world.
